The award-winning – and  friendly - Essex Police Media and Communications Department is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative individual to join our Campaigns, Events and Partnership Team.

As Campaigns and Partnerships Manager, you’ll need to be experienced in leading a team to deliver impactful marketing, communications and behaviour-change campaigns that make all our communities safer.

You will have experience turning brilliant storytelling into long-term campaigns that help the people you work alongside to catch criminals and protect our region. You will be ready to join a team of former news journalists, creative marketeers, employee engagement experts and technically brilliant videographers, photographers and graphic designers who turn the very best of their skills to cutting crime in one of the biggest police forces in the UK.

You’ll be promoting the great work of Essex Police, which is at record strength after years of sustained investment and which is rarely out of the news. By working closely with our partners in national and local businesses, volunteer networks and across policing in the UK and sometimes overseas, you’ll find opportunities to highlight how Essex Police works to protect and serve the county every day; over 75% of people in our county say the force – your future colleagues – do an excellent or good job. (Survey results carried out independently by an external provider, sample size over 7,000 respondents per annum.)

We need capable communicator with at least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.

If you are a creative leader in your field, have strong management skills and you want to make a real difference to urban, rural, coastal and business communities, we want to hear from you.

You will have experience of creating and delivering innovative campaigns across a range of platforms. You’ll run everything - from research and target audience insights and creative concept through to channel plan and implementation and, most importantly, your evaluation.

You will develop Essex Police’s public affairs position on existing or emerging issues and significant changes on legislation. These positions will be aligned to the campaigns you will be leading on, so that you don’t just tell great stories…you tell stories that truly connect and change lives for the better, whether it’s speaking up for victims of domestic abuse, preventing accidents on our roads or helping to stop organised crime gangs in their tracks.

Although you’ll be based at our Chelmsford HQ, this role can require travel around the beautiful Essex countryside and coastal areas or to and from our three cities, so access to a vehicle is desirable.

In your application we will be looking for you to demonstrate:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a previous marketing, PR or communications management role.
  • Experience of planning, creating, delivering, and evaluating campaigns and events.
  • Strong partnership working skills.

It would also be helpful if you could evidence:

  • A recognised qualification in journalism, PR, marketing, or campaigns.
  • Public affairs knowledge or experience, so you can help shape the Essex Police narrative for existing and emerging issues.
