Essex Police Community Special Constable - May18

Would you like to give back to YOUR Local community?

Do you enjoy helping others?

Joining as a Community Special Constable is a great way to volunteer your time to serve the area in which YOU live.

We already have Specials working on local policing and community policing teams and across a number of specialist areas, but Community Special Constables are something new, something different, something that delivers visible policing at a really local level.

A Community Special Constable dedicates their voluntary service to the area that matters most to them - their town or parish. In return the local council will pay the allowances and expenses of their officers and they’ll have a say in the issues that their local Specials deal with.

As a Special you’ll have full policing powers to support regular officers, undertake patrols, support calls for assistance from the public and investigate reports of crime. Volunteering as a Special is a great way to give back to your local community, build new relationships and develop new skills.

This role is voluntary and we require our Special Constables to offer a minimum of 16 hours per month. However, please note that you can choose when you work those hours and can volunteer more if you’d like. Even better you can choose the town or parish in which you serve.
