An exciting opportunity for an individual to undertake the role of Occupational Health Practice Nurse within the multi-disciplined Health and Wellbeing Services.  This is a full time role and precise working hours can be negotiated locally to support both the individual and the delivery of services.

The main purpose of this role is to provide health surveillance and medical recruitment activity for the force, providing Well Persons health screening checks for officers and staff, undertaking all aspects of routine medical checks and vaccinations, providing advice and guidance on healthy life styles and, where appropriate, referring officers and staff for further monitoring or investigation of potential medical conditions, enabling individuals to improve their levels of fitness and be proactive about their health care regime.

It is essential that the successful candidate is a Registered General Nurse, with post qualification experience preferably in a screening role.

This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to organise and prioritise their own workload and strong organisational skills are required, together with the ability to work under pressure in order to achieve deadlines.  Experience of setting up and undertaking a range of clinics is an advantage.

This opportunity would suit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their wide experience to the role and someone who is interested in this particular field of occupational health.

Please evidence the following criteria within your application:

  • An ability to adapt and innovate so that the office/clinical environment contributes to increased efficiency and effectiveness

  • Adherence to all data protection requirements and is able to demonstrate understanding of data protection principles

  • An effective communicator who is able to understand sensitive and complex case history information

  • Good IT skills and proficient with office technology and software

  • A sound working knowledge of Occupational Health issues and services available would be advantageous

  • A qualification in Occupational Health or experience in an Occupational Health environment is desirable, as is previous experience in a medical role within an emergency service setting
