An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Practice Nurse Team Leader within the multi-disciplined Health and Wellbeing Services.

The main purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the delivery of health surveillance and medical recruitment activity for the force, providing Well Persons’ health screening checks for officers and staff, undertaking all aspects of routine medical checks, providing advice and guidance on healthy life styles and, where appropriate, referring officers and staff for further monitoring or investigation of potential medical conditions, enabling individuals to improve their levels of fitness and be proactive about their health care regime.

It is essential that the successful candidate is a Registered General Nurse, with post qualification experience in a screening role and a post graduate Occupational Health related qualification is desirable.

This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to organise and prioritise their own workload and lead a small team of nurses responsible for health surveillance and medical recruitment activity, therefore strong organisational skills are required, together with the ability to work under pressure in order to achieve deadlines and supervisory or team leader experience is desired.  Experience of implementing and undertaking a range of clinics is essential.

This opportunity would suit a highly-motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their wide experience to the role and someone who is interested in this particular field of occupational health and leading and developing a team of clinical specialists.

Please evidence the following in your application:

  • An ability to adapt and innovate so that the office/work environment contributes to increased efficiency and effectiveness

  • Adherence to all data protection requirements and is able to demonstrate understanding of data protection principles

  • Experience of setting up and undertaking a range of clinics is essential and good IT skills and proficient with office technology and software

  • An effective communicator who is able to understand sensitive and complex case history information

  • Registered General Nurse

  • Supervisory or Team Leader experience in an organisational setting

  • A sound working knowledge of Occupational Health issues and services available would be advantageous

  • A qualification in Occupational Health administration and management is desirable, as is previous experience in a medical role within an emergency service setting
