To support a growing and increasingly important Information Management Department three full-time opportunities have arisen to undertake the role of Public Disclosure Assistant within the Public Disclosure Team on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is a challenging role as part of the Public Disclosure Team’s Admin Hub acting as the initial point of contact, responding to enquiries from members of the public, internal members of staff at all levels and other sources providing advice and guidance.

 

You will review and log requests/directions clarifying with the applicant any areas where the request or direction is unclear or where further information/action is required, such as payment of a reasonable fee in accordance with force policy. You will track response progress and support the drafting of written communication with the applicants, ensuring that high standards are maintained and responses are delivered within the required timescales.

 

You will work collaboratively with the Public Disclosure Officers and Senior Public Disclosure Officers in terms of administrative tasks to support the progression of cases and the timely disclosure of information/material.

 

The sucessful candidates will be able to demonsrate the following essential skills:

  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with people, using sound judgement and discretion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Competence in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to prioritise workloads in order to meet legislative timescales

In addition, it will be desirable for the successful candidates to be able to demonstrate:

  • Practical understanding of data protection and freedom of information legislation
  • Knowledge or good general awareness of the policing environment/force structure

Kent Police offer smarter working which designates that certain roles can have flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to.  The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidates, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace location, as agreed with the line manager.  The contractual workplace location for this role is Maidstone Police Station.  Please note that any excess travel costs from the existing contractual workplace location to any future contractual workplace location will not be paid and applicants are advised to take potential travel mileage increases into consideration when deciding to apply

 

Kent Police  offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £26,958.00.
